Acquired immunity is a type of immunity that is developed after exposure to a disease or an antigen. It is also known as adaptive immunity or specific immunity.

There are two types of acquired immunity:

  • Active immunity: This type of immunity is developed after a person has been infected with a disease. The body’s immune system produces antibodies to fight the disease. These antibodies remain in the body after the infection has cleared, providing protection against future infections with the same disease.
  • Passive immunity: This type of immunity is acquired by receiving antibodies from another person or animal. This can be done through vaccination or through the transfer of blood or plasma. Passive immunity provides immediate protection against infection, but it does not last long.

Acquired immunity is important for protecting the body from disease. It is also important for preventing the spread of disease.

There are a number of things that beauty professionals and estheticians can do to help protect their clients from disease, including:

  • Washing their hands frequently: This is one of the most important things that beauty professionals and estheticians can do to prevent the spread of disease. Hands should be washed with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after providing services to clients.
  • Using gloves: Gloves should be worn when providing services that may involve contact with blood, body fluids, or other potentially infectious materials.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces: All surfaces that may come into contact with clients should be cleaned and disinfected regularly.
  • Educating clients about hygiene: Beauty professionals and estheticians should educate their clients about the importance of good hygiene practices. This includes washing hands frequently, covering coughs and sneezes, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
