Beekman 1802 was founded in 2008 in Sharon Springs, New York, by Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge. They were both New York City residents and, by chance, stumbled upon the Beekman Farm during a weekend getaway. The farm, built in 1802, was soon to be theirs, and when they took in a neighboring farmer and his herd of goats, the foundation of Beekman 1802 was laid.
